The Spectral Films story begins roughly in 2003/4, when as students we got the greenlight to produce DEAD IN THE WEST, then one of the first combinations of zombie film and spaghetti western. The film was directed by fellow-student Deborah Beech, and my role was as writer and cinematographer. Looking back, the film is somewhat flawed in the script and delivery, but it looks fine and it was a messy but victorious debut for me as a fledgling filmmaker.
As a trained cinematographer and writer, I resolved to take that skillbase and use what I had learned on the various filmsets to take the jump to add producing and directing to the already cluttered list of responsibilities. Thus, in mid 2005, Spectral Films was born.

Greetings
This blog will become the ongoing record of the productions of Spectral Films. I started the company in 2005 and since then we've produced several short films and will be doing more over the coming months.
The manifesto of the company is simple: to produce low budget, high-quality shorts and (eventually) feature films, predominantly based in the horror genre. Films that are intelligent, innovative and, above all, scary.
