A new year for Spectral Films

Well, here we are in 2008.

Things have been a little quiet on the Spectral Films front lately, so I thought I'd do an update and kick off what is going to be a feverish year of activity.

1) HARVEST is now finally finished, a whole load of DVDs have gone off to festivals, so now we're back into the waiting game to see if any of them bite. I'm working with stills photographer Adrian Richardson on a poster for the film which unfortunately wasn't ready for this first batch of screeners, but it will be going out with the next ones. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, the widescreen cinematography by Paul Hayes is just great and with a bit of luck we'll have some festival screenings confirmed soon. It's a peculiar feeling to have finally completed a film we shot way back in August 2006, but there you go.

2) Spectral Films has 4 projects in development for 2008. For two of them we're applying for funding through the regular channels, and the others are going to be funded privately. The first two projects are small and, without going into detail, require minimal post-production. More details on these as they emerge...

The third film is something of a departure for Spectral, as it has more of a comedic edge to the horror. Psychos, curious youngsters and questionable family values will be revealed in MORTIFIED.

The fourth film that we aim to shoot in the Autumn is a return to what was going to be the third chapter of the SF 2006/7 slate, entitled THE HOMECOMING. A dark tale of lost love and dismemberment, this one promises to be the most deranged Spectral short yet.

So all in all, with a bit of luck and perseverence, we'll have three of these in the bag by the time summer comes around and by that time will be deep into prep for the fourth one.

I'm aiming to update this blog on a regular basis as the year progresses so stay tuned for further updates...
